Dr. Gereon Meyer, Senior Consultant with the Innovation Europe department of VDI/VDE-IT, earned his Ph.D. in Physics from the Freie Universität Berlin. Before joining VDI/VDE-IT in 2007 he was a research associate at Stanford University, Palo Alto, CA (USA) being at the same time a visiting scientist with Hitachi Global Storage Technologies, San Jose, CA (USA) and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Berkeley, CA (USA). Dr. Meyer is a fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. The results of his scientific work in the field of nanotechnology have been published in numerous papers. At VDI/VDE-IT, Dr. Meyer is an expert for ICT solutions and microsystem technologies in various application fields, particularly the automotive. He is the chairman of the annual International Forum on Advanced Microsystems for Automotive Applications (AMAA), and he is in charge of the activities of the Working Group Automotive of the European Technology Platform on Smart Systems Integration (EPoSS). The area of Dr. Meyer's special interest is the enabling role of ICT and smart systems for electric and hybrid vehicles and their connection to the power grid. Currently he is a member of the European Commission’s Ad-hoc Industrial Advisory Group for the European Green Cars Initiative and the coordinator of a European project “Information and communication technologies for the full electric vehicle” (ICT4FEV).
