Harry Stephanou is the Director of the Automation & Robotics Research Institute at The University of Texas at Arlington. He received a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University in 1976, focusing on robotics and intelligent systems. From 1976 to 1985, he was with the Exxon Production Research Company in Houston, TX. From 1985 to 1990, he was on the faculty of the School of Information Technology and Engineering at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA. From 1987 to 1988, he also served as part-time Program Director for Robotics and Machine Intelligence at the National Science Foundation. Between 1990 and 2004, he was with Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY as Director of the Center for Automation Technologies. His current research interests are in modular microrobotic systems and micromanufacturing.
