Steven Arms received his Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Vermont in 1983. Shortly after in 1987, Steve founded MicroStrain, a leading manufacturer of displacement, orientation, and wireless sensor systems for remote monitoring of machines/structures. Today, MicroStrain’s products are used in a variety of applications in the automotive, aerospace, industrial, manufacturing, semiconductor, environmental monitoring, oil and gas, power generation, civil structures and defense markets. Steve has been awarded 34 US patents, and has over 13 pending. He has contributed to 18 journal publications and 44 abstracts/presentations in the areas of advanced instrumentation, wireless sensing, and energy harvesting.
